There is no single day rate for a car with a driver in Estonia. Most providers, us included, price by the hour for city use and by the route for long distances, and a “day” is simply the number of hours you need. At Solidride, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class with a driver costs 33 € per hour, a V-Class 45 € and an S-Class 70 €. Intercity trips such as Tallinn–Tartu start at 270 €. Below you will find how to turn that into a day budget, what changes the price, and what to ask before you confirm.
TL;DR
- Chauffeur cars are billed per hour in town and per route between cities, so a day price is your hours multiplied by the class rate, plus any agreed extras.
- Our published hourly rates: E-Class 33 €, Volvo S90 40 €, V-Class 45 €, S-Class 70 €. We publish no flat 24-hour rate.
- Fixed intercity prices start at 170 € (Tallinn–Hiiumaa) and reach 400 € (Tallinn–Luhamaa and Tallinn–Koidula).
- Estonia’s standard VAT rate is 24%, so ask whether a quote includes it, especially when you invoice a company.
- Agree the route, waiting time, and overnight arrangements in writing before the day starts.

Why a chauffeur car has an hourly price, not a day price
When you search for a day price, you are really asking: what will it cost to have a car and a professional driver at my disposal from morning until evening? The answer depends on how the provider structures the offer.
A self-drive rental has a 24-hour clock. A chauffeur service does not, because the driver’s working time is what you are buying. The car, the fuel, the driver’s time and the waiting between your meetings all sit inside the hourly rate. That is why you see hourly pricing in most listings, sometimes with a minimum number of hours and sometimes with a reduced rate for a longer booking.
It also separates a chauffeur from a taxi. Regulated taxis must follow national rules on vehicles and on the price list, which include a certified taximeter and a posted tariff. A private chauffeur booking works differently: the price is agreed before the ride, so you know the total in advance instead of watching a meter. For a business traveler with a full schedule, that predictability is usually the point.

Our hourly rates by car class
These are the rates we publish on our price list for city transfers from Tallinn Airport. The same classes are what you choose from when you book a day with a driver.
| Car | Rate per hour | Лучше всего подходит для |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes-Benz E-Class | 33 € | One or two travelers, business meetings, city days |
| Volvo S90 | 40 € | Executive travel with extra comfort |
| Mercedes-Benz V-Class | 45 € | Families, small groups, lots of luggage |
| Mercedes-Benz S-Class | 70 € | VIP guests, top-level delegations |
For larger groups we also offer an MB Sprinter and a coach. Neither has a published price, because the cost depends on the group size, the route and the schedule. We quote those individually.
A worked example
Say you land in Tallinn, have meetings across the city from 9:00 to 17:00, and want the same car and driver throughout. If you book an E-Class by the hour, eight hours at 33 € comes to 264 €. The same day in a V-Class, at 45 € an hour, is 360 €. Those figures are simple multiplication of the published hourly rates. Your final quote can differ if the plan includes a trip out of town, a very early start or a late finish, so treat them as a starting point and confirm the total with us.

The example shows the main lever: the number of hours. A tight schedule with a driver who waits only when needed is cheaper than a vague “all day” plan with long gaps. If your gaps are long, say so when you ask for a quote.
Fixed prices for trips between cities
Once you leave the capital, an hourly meter makes little sense. A trip to Tartu or Pärnu has a known distance and duration, so we price the route. These are the starting prices on our price list:
| Route | Price |
|---|---|
| Tallinn – Hiiumaa | from 170 € |
| Tallinn – Pärnu | from 190 € |
| Tallinn – Saaremaa | from 210 € |
| Tallinn – Tartu | from 270 € |
| Tallinn – Narva | from 300 € |
| Tallinn – Luhamaa | from 400 € |
| Tallinn – Koidula | from 400 € |
The word “from” matters. The final price depends on the car class, the number of passengers and luggage, and any stops. A day trip that goes to Tartu, waits for a meeting and returns the same evening is a different job from a one-way transfer, and we will quote it as such. If you plan a trip like that for a team, our guide to what a team airport pickup involves shows how we coordinate arrivals for groups.
What changes the price of a day with a driver
Two quotes for the same city can differ by a large amount. These are the factors behind that gap.
- Car class. The jump from an E-Class to an S-Class is large in our own list, 33 € against 70 € an hour, because the car, its upkeep and the expectations differ.
- Hours, including waiting. Waiting time is usually billed. Agree up front whether the driver waits at each stop or returns at a set time.
- Distance outside the city. Long routes move from hourly pricing to a route price.
- Time of day. Night and very early bookings need a driver who is rested and available. We run 24/7, but a 2 a.m. arrival is worth mentioning when you ask for a price. Our page on overnight airport transfers in Estonia explains how that works.
- Extras. Child seats, a second stop, a pet on board or a request for a specific language all belong in the quote, not in a conversation at the curb.
- VAT. Read on, because this one catches company bookers.
VAT and company invoices
The standard VAT rate in Estonia is 24%, set by the VAT Act. Comparing two quotes where one includes VAT and the other adds it later is the most common way to compare prices wrongly. Ask each time: is this the final amount, with VAT?
If a company books the car, a second question follows. The tax authority’s rules on passenger cars limit how much input VAT a business can deduct on cars used for business, and the treatment depends on how the use is documented. The Tax and Customs Board explains the VAT rules for passenger cars on its website. Your accountant makes the call on what you can deduct. What we can do is give you a clear invoice that states the service, the date and the route, which makes your internal reporting simpler.
Chauffeur car, taxi or rental: which one fits
The three options solve different problems, and the cheapest hourly figure rarely tells you which is best.
- Taxi. Good for one short ride. Metered fares become unpredictable over a full day with stops and waiting.
- Self-drive rental. Cheapest on paper if you know the roads and have time to park, refuel and navigate. It does not give you a driver who waits while you work.
- Car with a driver. You work or rest in the back seat, the driver deals with parking, and the cost is known beforehand. It pays off when your time is worth more than the difference.
The Visit Estonia convention bureau notes that Tallinn is compact, and most venues and hotels are close together, which is a fair reason to walk in the Old Town. A chauffeur earns its fee on the stretches walking cannot cover: the airport run, the trip to a venue outside the center, the day with six stops and a heavy bag.
Airport arrivals: where the day usually starts
Most chauffeured days in Estonia begin at Tallinn Airport, about 4 km from the center, according to Visit Estonia. For arrivals we monitor your flight in real time, so a delay does not leave a driver waiting in the wrong hour or you waiting for a driver. The driver meets you in arrivals, helps with luggage, and takes you to the hotel or the first meeting. Our airport to Tallinn hotel transfer guide lays out the timings.
If you are curious how a curated pickup compares with ride-hailing at a large airport elsewhere, this piece on app rides versus a curated transfer at Madrid airport makes the case clearly, though the prices and rules there are Spanish.
Perspective: how we think about pricing a day
We do not publish a flat day rate, and we are open about why. A flat rate would have to cover the worst case: a long day, a distant stop, a late finish. Most clients would then pay for hours they never use. An hourly price plus a route price for the longer legs means you pay for what the day actually involves.
The second reason is that a day with a driver is rarely just a day. A client may fly in with a dog, a wedding party may need a decorated car at 150 € or more, and a delegation may need a Sprinter and two cars at once. We would rather talk for five minutes and give you a firm number than hand you a table that fits nobody.
Our advice is simple. Write down your pickup time, your stops, your final drop-off and the number of people and bags. Send that with your request. We will tell you the class we recommend, the hours we expect and the total. If a cheaper class will do the job, we will say so.

How to get an accurate quote
- List the stops. Addresses, or at least districts, in order.
- Set the start and end time. Include flexibility, such as “the meeting might run until 15:00”.
- State passengers and luggage. This decides between an E-Class and a V-Class.
- Mention special needs. Pets, child seats, a meet-and-greet sign, a specific language.
- Ask what the price includes. VAT, waiting time, tolls and parking, and what happens if the day runs over.
- Get the confirmation in writing. A short email with the car, the hours and the total is enough.
Our private transfer booking checklist for Estonia covers the same ground in more detail.
Groups, coaches and the paperwork behind them
Once you go beyond a regular passenger car, rules change. Drivers who carry passengers professionally in larger vehicles need a certificate of competence or the matching entry on the driving licence, and vehicles with more than nine seats fall under tachograph rules on driving and rest time. When you book a coach for a conference or a tour group, ask the provider to confirm both. It affects your safety, and it affects how many hours a driver can legally work in a day, which in turn shapes the schedule you can plan.
For groups we run a Sprinter and a coach, and we quote those after we know the route and the headcount.
Book a day with a driver
If you already know your schedule, you can request a price directly. See the Solidride price list for hourly and route rates, or tell us about your plan on solidride.ee. We are available 24/7, with Mercedes-Benz cars, meet-and-greet, luggage help and multilingual drivers. For weddings we offer a decorated car with a chauffeur from 150 €, and our wedding car price guide shows how to compare offers.
Часто задаваемые вопросы
How much does a chauffeur-driven car cost per day in Estonia?
It depends on the hours and the car. At our published hourly rates, an eight-hour day costs 264 € in an E-Class or 360 € in a V-Class, before any agreed extras. We do not publish a flat 24-hour rate, so we confirm the total in a quote.
Is VAT included in the price?
Estonia’s standard VAT rate is 24%. Always ask whether the quoted amount is final and includes VAT. Get the answer in writing before you compare offers.
Can I use the car for a trip to Tartu or Pärnu in the same day?
Yes. Intercity trips are priced by route: Tallinn–Tartu starts at 270 € and Tallinn–Pärnu at 190 €. If you need the driver to wait and return the same day, tell us when you request the quote so we price it as a round trip.
What is the difference between a chauffeur and a taxi?
A taxi runs on a meter and a posted tariff governed by national taxi rules. A chauffeur booking has a price agreed in advance, a car chosen for your needs and a driver who stays with you for the whole schedule.
Can I bring a pet?
Yes, we offer a pet-friendly transfer service. Mention the animal when you book so we prepare the right car and confirm the price.
